🔓 The Lore

🔓 The Lore

I. A Wish Made Visible

The Passion earrings begin their story with a hoop made of thirteen stars—a number chosen in tribute to BTS’s debut date and year, as well as Jungkook’s age when he first began training at BigHit Entertainment. The mechanics of the hoop itself were designed to mirror his everyday aesthetic. He often gravitates toward simple studs or hoop-style earrings, sometimes accented with a small charm—pieces that feel effortless and familiar.

Unlike Charsima or Hope, where the hoops are smaller and more subtle, Jungkook’s hoops are typically medium in size. They blend into the overall aesthetic of his outfits, yet never disappear entirely. This balance—of presence without excess—is why the Passion earrings take this form.

The thirteen stars etched into the hoop tell a deeper story, however. They speak to origins—to humble beginnings and the quiet act of wishing upon a star, hoping to make it as an artist. When looked at closely, seven of those thirteen stars face forward. This choice was deliberate. It honors the seven men of BTS, who endured blood, sweat, and tears alongside one another, rising beyond those who trained beside them and ultimately standing front and center as artists in their own right.

II. What Always Returns

Beneath the stars rests the pendulum, swinging gently and held in place by hexagonal chains. It carries a presence that feels steady and reliable—strong, unyielding—yet edged with something heavier beneath the surface. It moves with grace and precision, sharp in its lines.

This was one of the reasons why the pendulum was chosen as the main vehicle to represent Jeon Jungkook. His artistry has always been marked by balance—by an ability to excel across performance, dance, and music while maintaining control and clarity in every movement. There is hypnotic magnetism to the way he performs, one that draws the audience in and asks them to keep watching.

At its core, however, the Passion earrings were made to reflect something deeper: Jungkook’s resilience. His stubbornness, even at a young age, to pursue his dreams. His willingness to be shaped by the world without losing himself in the process—all for his craft, his passion, and his fellow members of BTS. No matter how forcefully life swung him from one role to the next, he learned to adapt, to find his equilibrium, and in doing so, became a steady anchor for those around him. Like a pendulum that always returns to center, his presence within BTS carried harmony, adaptability, and trust.

III. Freedom in Form

These pendulums are not cemented in place, however. The pendant that dangles from the hoop was intentionally made to be taken on and off—a versatility that mirrors Jungkook’s own talents. The Passion earrings can be worn in different combinations, allowing the piece to shift depending on the wearer’s own aesthetic.

Jungkook has mentioned in documentaries and interviews that he enjoys exploring different genres of dance, music, and art. He even wanted to try opera and is known for his iconic trot versions of their songs. His brilliance comes from this willingness to adapt, to try new things, and to put himself in unfamiliar territory. Allowing the Passion earrings to change in this way felt like a natural extension of that part of him.

IV. Measured in Motion

Pendulums have long been used to measure time, as seen in grandfather clocks and earlier models of timekeeping. As mentioned in File 02, these Jungkook-inspired earrings were designed prior to the release of his solo album, Golden, which meant much of the lore drew from motifs present in his earlier work. Songs such as Begin, My Time, and Still With You all circle around a similar theme: time. The passing of it. The feeling of moments slipping by. This idea of time moving forward, sometimes gently and sometimes relentlessly, felt essential to honor in a piece inspired by his artistry.

This was why the pendulum felt unavoidable—not only as a symbol of balance, but as a quiet marker of time passing through his work.

When looking closely at the face of the pendulum, small engravings of stars and a rose can be found beneath its sky. The rose was chosen as it is June’s birth flower—an homage to BTS's birth month—and roses appear across all of my BTS-related pieces as a way to tie them together. This recurring motif allows each piece to be distinct yet remain connected—an ongoing thread that binds every member. Placing the rose on the front of the pendulum was deliberate. Jungkook’s life has been deeply shaped by BTS, and in his own words, the members raised him into the man and artist he is today. While there are many moments that light up his sky, the central role he carries has always been that of a member of BTS.

But Jungkook’s story was never carried by BTS alone.
As his journey continued, another presence began to move alongside him—quiet, steady, deeply intertwined, and just as essential.

V. The Eighth Presence

To begin this part of the lore, I need to start with the color of the stone chosen for Passion. The colors of my BTS-inspired pieces have largely been guided by each member’s predominant mic color. When I looked more closely into the symbolism behind each of them, it felt fitting that every color aligned so closely with the member it represented.

With purple, its meanings include creativity, ambition, and individuality. It is also a color deeply tied to ARMY. Because of this, the purple stone within Passion became a deliberate love letter—one meant for the fans who have walked alongside BTS throughout their journey.

The hexagonal chain features two small circular stones that lead into a diamond-shaped purple stone. This stone either anchors the chain or rests upon the pendulum like a crown. The chains themselves were chosen not only to align with Jungkook’s aesthetic, but also for what they represent: strength, unity, and structure. Shaping them into a hexagon further emphasizes harmony and union—an unbreakable bond.

When counting the elements within the chain—six sides, one of which is home to the diamond stone, along with two circular stones—we arrive at eight. The number eight appears throughout my BTS pieces as a symbol of the seven men of BTS and ARMY together. Just as BTS has helped ARMY find joy, voice, and comfort in moments of uncertainty, ARMY has been the link that allowed BTS to continue shining among the stars. Together, they have kept the pendulum moving forward—supporting both group and individual journeys, even as the world shifts in all directions.

The fans are just as much a part of this journey—of Passion’s making.

But even the strongest support cannot replace what must already exist within. When time accelerates and roles multiply, something unseen must sustain the pendulum’s endurance.

VI. What Remains

As mentioned earlier, Jungkook’s songs often touch on the concept of time. But another recurring theme in his work is the experience of being shaped by environment, by people, and by expectation. Begin, My Time, Euphoria, and Decalcomania all capture this keystone in his music. These roles—these masks he wears—however, are not what allow the pendulum to endure the harsh swings of the world, or the pressure of time constantly moving forward. With every adaptation, every evolution, every mask, there must first exist something capable of adapting—something steady enough to carry it all.

Something incredibly powerful.
Something unseen, yet felt through every action taken.

Because beneath the roles, the expectations, and the mask of BTS Jungkook, there lies a brilliant North Star—one that acts as a compass for his life.

The star is a major component of the Passion earrings, woven throughout the piece—in the hoop, in the engravings, and within the pendulum itself. At thirteen years old, Jungkook received offers from major labels such as JYP and Cube Entertainment, and earned the nickname “Golden Maknae.” Excelling in dance, rap, and singing, his star quality was evident early on.

When I had the privilege of attending the Permission to Dance concert in 2021, I distinctly remember the way his joy for the stage was visible in his eyes. Like stars against a night sky—no matter how far away—you can’t help but pause and take a moment to admire their light.

Behind every mask he wears, Jungkook leads with a genuine love for what he does, allowing passion to be the backbone of every endeavor (hence the reason why you see it behind the mask etched with a rose that represent BTS). That intention—the love, the hard work, the quiet devotion—may not always be obvious to everyone, but it is felt through everything he creates. His authenticity, artistry, and creativity are the true symbols of the North Star within. To those willing to look beyond the surface of his work, that light is unmistakable. It may not always shine directly in front of us, but it is always there—guiding the balance of a pendulum that swings wildly, yet never fails to return to center.

But the North Star revealed through Jungkook’s artistry does not belong to him alone.
It is a reminder of something universal—something many carry quietly within themselves.

The revelation of the North Star within is, quite literally, an unmasking—one that feels deeply personal, yet universally understood. Jungkook’s work may not reach for something existential in the way RM’s lyricism does, nor does it offer the same protective warmth found in Jin’s songs. Instead, it gives you something quieter. It allows you to feel. To move. To exist fully in the moment, without needing to name or justify it. To come back to center. To remember what it feels like to simply experience.

Because ultimately, the roles you play and the responsibilities you carry are just that—roles. Masks worn out of necessity. Beneath them, your soul remains steady, beautiful, and powerful. The North Star is a reminder that your worth is not measured by what you achieve or what you become. That your heart, your passions, and your inner compass are enough to guide you forward, even under the weight of the world.

Everybody carries a North Star—a guiding value or truth that shapes the way they move through life. It may shift as you grow, as new experiences etch your sky with stars that once felt all-consuming. And when one star fades into a distant constellation, something else eventually rises to take its place. Through every change, it continues to center you.

Perhaps BTS may not always be your North Star. But the fact that BTS—and Jungkook—were once part of your journey is nothing to diminish. It is something beautiful. A light that helped you find your way when you needed it. And if, right now, they no longer sit at the center of your sky, that is okay too. Let what feels true to you now guide you forward.

You are worth celebrating—no matter what mask you wear. Remember that you are worthy, resilient, and a star in your own right.

VII. Etched in Your Sky

There are chapters in one’s life that permanently alter the body and soul, however. These are not masks, but history—etched into the self.

The Passion earrings carry an engraving of XIII at their back. As many of you already know from my lore videos, I etch these Roman numerals into every BTS-inspired piece as a tribute to their debut date and year. Choosing Roman numerals was intentional. They speak to timelessness—to history endured, carried, and lived through time.

Jungkook grew up with BTS, and they shaped the foundational years of not only his adolescence, but his life as an artist. His back was entrusted to them—protected—so that he could face the world without hesitation. And while he may try on different masks, different genres, and different forms of expression, his center never has to turn away. The Roman numerals XIII are placed where support belongs—not as something he shows to the world, but as something that has always had his back. They are not a mask. They are proof of his bond with his fellow BTS members.

Like a pendulum returning to stillness, the story of Passion finds its pause here. What follows is no longer mine to define, but yours to carry, interpret, and live alongside.

Author's Note

The pendulum that swings, yet always finds its center. A mask one wears in life, reflecting the roles played day to day—yet beneath it all lies a core essence. A guiding North Star that always brings you back to center.

Being swung around by life while still holding onto one’s dreams, aspirations, and passion is something I believe every person experiences in one form or another. Developing a design around this motif felt fitting—not only for Jungkook, who has balanced many roles and masks throughout his career, but also for those who wear this piece and see their own resilience reflected within it.

But being vulnerable—being fully rid of one’s mask—can be deeply uncomfortable. At times, even terrifying. Perhaps this is why it took me so long to express the full lore and sentiment behind my jewelry through the Stargia Vault. I was afraid of unmasking myself completely, of what it might mean if what lay beneath wasn’t received with warmth. In doing so, I didn’t allow my pieces to shine at their full capacity—only offering glimpses through short videos that circled around their meaning without fully entering it.

This file is an unmasking. A sharing of the North Star that lies within. And while some of the symbolism may not resonate with everyone, I hope that those who find connection here feel seen, understood, and empowered. And please note that my interpretations are not meant to be definitive.

These earrings begin with a story of their own, but their journey can only be completed through your experience. I offer you the guardrails—but if, along the way, you find meaning that speaks uniquely to you, let it become part of the piece.

Let it become its North Star.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing my art to connect with you.

P.s. There is one more file—File 04—meant only for those who wear Passion. It will explore the hidden connections between sibling pieces—shared constellations, mirrored engravings, familiar placements. If you’ve ever noticed how the RM necklace’s stars speak to Passion, or how Jimin’s XIII sits in the same place… yes. That was intentional.
